The Snowgum

A gnarly tree with twisted trunk

Smooth bark and multi toned.

Lancet leather grey-green leaves

Sprout fourth in heat or cold.

In spring, white blossoms bloom

Exploding bursts from gumnut pod

And dance in childlike circles

To celebrate the midday sun

Recoils in frost but thrives in thaw

It grows, but rather slow!

With shape forever changing

The long-lived gum from the snow.

Like the snow gum, personal change can be at times difficult and slow going.  But when we have the courage to open to our inner experience - and within the safety of the therapeutic relationship - we have the potential to grow and thrive, with a clearer sense of who we are in the world.

I acknowledge the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation, and the Darug people of the Darug nation, the traditional custodians of the lands on which I live and work. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and future. I acknowledge that this country always was, and always will be, Aboriginal land.
